This ep was sent to me by one of the band members and, honestly, i didn't expect much. But these guys prove Russian post-rockers are no worse than others (they just have less opportunities to get recognition). Morning Sessions follows quiet-loud-quiet pattern so well established by Mogwai on the post-rock scene. And, yes, in general ioch resembles Mogwai of Rock Action and Happy Songs for Happy People - their music is rich structure-based, rather than drone-based (Something Happened). Along with Mogwai, this ep shares gloom aesthetics of GY!BE in its most dramatic moments (Noiseful Evening). This kind of drama, you know, suddenly appears from nowhere, hits you in the head, and then it's gone again. One thing I have respect for these guys is that in one of the track they speak russian (It's All in Your Mind). Unlike, say, their Russian peers Everything is Made in China, ioch is not afraid to incorporate their native language into their songs despite the fact it might harm their worldwide publicity. Flying Around, Morning Sessions' grand finale, is very likely to send shivers down your spine if you listen to it loud enough
